Our Vision

52Love caters to the whole woman.  Womanhood, in general, is complex to navigate. Black/African American womanhood is doubly complex. 52Love provides opportunities to not only identify these complexities but explore, heal, and grow through them. We, also, celebrate and crown each other through the process.

Every experience is made to feel like the kitchen table. As women we deserve a warm, welcoming, and wonder-filled safe space to work through life. As many of us know, the door(s) to the kitchen are always open

Home Deck and Kitchen

A Holistic Approach

How?

Through our programs, cultural enrichment, travel opportunities, retreats, book clubs, forums, KTEs, workshops, and other offerings. We believe that travel is as important as self-work and building community. Although cooking nor food is required to make the kitchen table "magical," we know food brings people together. Our relationship with food and the table is culturally important; stimulating the palate is as essential as stimulating the mind. So, we might pair recipes or travel destinations with our reading lists. 52Love is creating space to regularly unplug, check out, and work on YOU!

Why?

This is our shared passion and lifestyle; our way of honoring the life and dreams of David and Evelyn who were married 52 years. Recognizing that our late parents and grandparents truly understood the African proverb that says, "If you want to go fast go alone. If you want to go far go together," 52Love is building community on this principle one table at time.  Not just travel, food, or self-care, 52Love is dedicated to exploring all the intricate ways we are connected to one another. Let's build community together.

Who?

This mother-daughter duo holds certifications in life coaching and college teaching, respectively.  We also hold 2 bachelors, 3 masters, and one doctorate degree (shout out to Reverend Dr. Mommy) between us.  Our educational and career backgrounds lie in English literature, psychology, ministry, counseling, community engagement, education, the arts, theology, the nonprofit sector, curriculum & program development, social justice, and American culture in global contexts. We value community education and cultural awareness as much as formal education. For over 30 years, we have been active in community building and volunteering (my daughter was raised understanding the importance of service). The two of us have learned just as much, if not more, from community building, our respective faith walks, traveling, and at the kitchen table as we have in our formal education.

“There are times when wisdom cannot be found in the chambers of parliament or the halls of academia but at the unpretentious setting of the kitchen table.”
