Service Description

This course is composed of 3 distinct classes that provide foundational knowledge on the diaspora. Rooted includes THREE 4-week classes: Rooted 101: Where is the Country of Black? (Race, Culture & Identity) Rooted 102: Creating Safe Spaces (An Intro to Community & Cultural Healing) Rooted 103: On Our Shelves (Creating a Cultural Canon) ROOTED is 52Learns signature community education program. Over the course of TWELVE weeks, we will engage in THREE very distinct classes each building upon the other. We'll start by examining our relationship with identity then how that relationship has manifested in our lives--individually and collectively--before closing with a celebratory look at what it means to be part of the African Diaspora. The course is composed of THREE 4-week classes given in community education format. What is a community education format? A non-traditional educational setting that creates space for bilateral learning where life experience is valued as much as scholarship. This is a space where we will learn, stretch, and explore together for the benefit of the entire cohort.
